hi Finer,

Thank you for your feedback. If your 1.5hp split system air conditioner is not cooling an area of approximatley 12-25m2 then you may need to ask your installer to come back and check over the installation. How long is the pipe run? If it is longer than 5m then your installer may need to add some refrigerant. If your installer has made an error when installing the system the refrigerant gas may have leaked out of the system and will therefore not cool effectively.

Please contact your installer and ask them to come back and inspect the system.

If you have any other issues after your installer has returned then please feel free to contact us on 03 9763 8988 for any further technical advice regarding your air conditioner.

kind regards,

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the message. Firstly we would need to know the size of your home to be able to determine the air conditioning system you will require to cool your home effectively.

If your home has reasonable insulation then one of our ducted split system air conditioners should be able to reach the temperature you require quite effectively although when the outside temperature reaches up around 42-46 degrees then the effectiveness of the cooling the air conditioning system can produce will be reduced as all air conditioners are usually rated for a maximum outdoor operating temperature of approximately 45 degrees.

To get a accurate temperature measurement you will need to take into account the direction of the home (north and west facing homes are usually the hottest), how well is the property insulated, are there lots of windows that receive direct sunlight, will the air conditioners outdoor unit be installed in a shady place and some other minor factors.

If your home is quite large then you can arrange to have your ducted air conditoner zoned by your installer which will increase the application area by accommodating one group of outlets on one zone and another group of outlets on another zone. Zoning your ducted air conditioner is typically set up into daytime and nightime zones with one common area for both zones.

Generally speaking, if this system is installed in a suitably sized home then it should be able to maintain a temperature of approximately 22 degress on a 40 degree day.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us on 03 9763 8988 or you can email through a house plan to mfreeman@domainair.com.au
and we can determine the best air conditioner system for your home

kind regards,

Hello,

I live in Sydney where the summer extremes can be occassionally into the low 40 deg C range but usually in the 30's.

I currently have a small split cooling only my lounge room, which has sufficient capacity to eventually cool the adjacent dining room.

I am considering my options re installing a fully ducted system to cover the whole house, as the bedrooms can be very hot well into the evening.

Assuming that the installation is rated for my expected heat load, with suitable margin, and that that the aircon is started early in the day and the house is kept closed, can I expect a comfortable 22 deg C at 40 deg ambient, or is this expecting too much? If so what would be a reasonable differential.

I have trolled through various spec sheets and brochures, which show energy efficiency figures, but not what I would call a performance figure.

Any ideas gratefully received

Cheers
Alan

I just had 2 split systems installed,(1) 3.5 hp split reverse cycle which works beautifully, and a 1.5 hp which is very DISAPPOINTING,the 1.5 split reverse cycle can not even cool a hall way that is 5 metres long by 1.2 metres wide after 3 hours of use on 16 degrees, your stats show that it is capable of 12 to 25 metres squared for cooling, might as well have bought a hand held fan would do a better job
